I like sport, no I love sport, and I've been transfixed by the outstanding performances in the recently held Beijing Olympic Games.
Stellar performances from the likes of Phelps, Hoy, and especially Usain Bolt have left an indelible impression, and generations of future athletes will no doubt be inspired by their truly amazing exploits.
I am in awe of these athletes, and other performers who were able to produce performances of brilliance just when it mattered most.
But one of the performances that impressed me the most did not result in the awarding of a gold medal. The athlete who provided that performance was David Davies the 10k swimmer from Wales. David or "Dai Splash" as he's known, won the silver medal, and did not like the others mentioned previously manage to deliver when it mattered most, but what he did do was deliver a level of effort and sheer determination that truly demonstrated the Olympic spirit.
In this gruelling event, and after nearly 2 hours of a lung bursting swim, he was ahead of the field and was going for gold. But as the finish line beckoned the physical demands of such a swim started to take their toll to the extent that David was swimming off course, he somehow realised this and adjusted his line, only to overcompensate which required another adjustment to finally finish in second place. He collapsed from sheer exhaustion, he had given his all.
I believe that performances such as David's should illustrate how we should perform in our own lives. We cannot all be winners, we cannot all deliver when it matters, but what we can do is always give of our best, we should be able to say, even after "taking the wrong course" that we gave it our all.
Apply yourself to whatever you undertake, be determined, be strong in adversity, be committed to your cause, then even if you fail, so long as you've given your all you will like David Davies be able to stand tall and have no regrets.

The Ability To Change
Hi,
I agree with the following quote by Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy~ "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself."
I think that it is imperative for anyone who aspires to anything or wants to be somebody, to adopt the mindset whereby they first think what they can do to engender change within themselves; before going out to change the world and society in general.
The ability to analyse yourself and your weaknesses and frailties will serve you well, if having completed that analysis, you effect change to better yourself and overcome your shortcomings.
Not only will that benefit you as an individual, it will increase your value to the world.
By increasing your value to the world you will adopt a different more positive approach to life in general and as a consequence help change it.
It is my belief that those who embrace positive change are the driving forces in society, and do not ponder and complain about the inactions of others.
Nice one Leo, you were spot on!
I will now like to ask anyone out there who wants to change their lives and thus increase their value to the world, if they are willing to take positive action to start that process.
Many people have tried, and failed to change their financial situation and the way they live their lives, by attempting to earn enough with home based businesses to enable them to stop working for an employer, or to supplement an income they already receive.
It is an undeniable fact however that the % rate of failure for these types of programs is in the high nineties. And I firmly believe that the reason for such a high failure rate is the reluctance of participants to change themselves, their attitudes, their thought processes and their levels of expectation.
If you truly want to succeed these issues will have to be addressed. And it is at this stage that I ask anyone who is considering starting their own home based business, or is tired of failing to make make money via the internet, to look no further.
